The first thing I noticed upon walking into The Plank Pizza Co. Beer Parlor was the rustic decor. High ceilings, pendant light bulbs draping from the ceiling, wood everywhere and industrial accents. The vibe was super friendly and relaxed. One thing I hate about going out to drink is how packed and loud it is, PPCBP had their tables filled but you could talk to the person across from you without screaming which left me relieved.
We were quickly seated at a clean table and our server, Brian, introduced himself. He was very accommodating. He answered all our questions, was enthusiastic and made sure we were happy at all times.
We ordered our first round of beers (and one wine):
1) Trophy Wife by Alementary - light, crisp, refreshing with a great finish. (Blonde)
2) Hop Fish by Flying Fish - floral, perfumey. (A lighter IPA.)
3) Cocoa Pebulls by Bolero Snort - malty, light coffee flavor with him of cocoa. (Chocolate Stout)
4) Cabernet Sauvignon - tasted like cabernet sauvignon. We came for the beer, not the wine.
The Plank Pizza Co. Beer Parlor has 41 craft beers on tap and 300+ bottle from breweries from all over NJ. This is a great place to sit down with your friends and have a few beers and some food, which I am getting to next. The food was outstanding! Each of us ordered an appetizer and we all split them.
Creamy, silky and just the right amount of grease & crunch. The dipping sauce was a lightly sweetened with a kick to it. It compliments the egg rolls perfectly.
Crab Dip Bread Bowl:
Creamy, cheesy, crabby, garlic-y? and just all around amazing. This is was fantastic, a must have if you like crab dips. Some chunks of crab in it would have been an awesome addition (hint hint) to make it prefect. We scraped the bowl clean and even ate the bowl! Below is a photo of Tom eating the bowl =)
Spinach Dip Bread Bowl:
Ooey-gooey melty goodness. It really seems like we were in the mood for gooey foods that night!
Bacon Mac n Cheese Egg Rolls:
They were good but didn't come close to how good the rest of the apps were. They were too doughy, we wouldn't order them again but we would order everything else 100x over.
We ordered a second round of drinks and I HAD to get the beer float...yes a beer float. Never heard of it? Well it exists here and its DELICIOUS!!!!!
On the beer menu, some beers have an icon of the milkshake next to them, those beers are what they recommend for the float. The Wells Banana Bread Beer with vanilla ice cream is addicting. I can't even explain what an awesome combination of flavor it was. (I mixed it all together after I took the photo)
We finished off the night with some Churro Fries. If you want something sweet, it's a good go-to.
My sister, Deanne & I snacking on the fries while waiting for the bill.
I have to say, The Plank Pizza Co. Beer Parlor is going to now be my go-to place and where I want to bring all my friends to show off what an awesome gem I found.
